Tennessee Vols Baseball Expected To Become 2022 CWS Champs

The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team is riding high on an 11-game win streak after another knockout season of play.

Next up comes the NCAA Super Regional, featuring two home matchups against No. 17 Notre Dame at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Following a successful weekend, they’ll advance to the Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, NE where Tennessee sportsbooks predict they’ll become 2022 College World Series champs.

It isn’t by happenstance that the Tennessee Volunteers have made it as far as they have this season. Vols baseball head coach Tony Vitello‘s NCAA Tournament appearance record speaks for itself. He guided the Vols to postseason play in both 2019 and 2021.

Last year proved especially monumental for the Vols, who hosted their first-ever Super Regional event. They then advanced to the College World Series for the first time since 2005 — only the fifth time in school history.

They ultimately fell short at the CWS, losing 0-2 to Virginia and Texas to claim a 50-18 overall season record.

This year, the Vols returned to avenge last season’s losses, locking in the Southeastern Conference regular-season title and securing an impressive 56-7 record.

Not surprisingly, this has led oddsmakers to situate Tennessee with the best likelihood of walking away with the championship.

DraftKings Sportsbook gives the Vols +250 odds of winning the 2022 College World Series.

Oregon State trails behind at +900 odds, followed by Stanford at +1200 and Texas at +1500.

In order to become CWS champs, though, they’ll have to successfully advance through Super Regionals first.

NCAA Super Regional: Tennessee vs. Notre Dame odds

The Vols hosted the NCAA Knoxville Regional last weekend, where they opened with a 10-0 shutout against Alabama State. Tennessee then continued their win streak with a 12-7 win against Campbell and a 9-6 win against Georgia Tech.

Now, they advance to the Knoxville Super Regional where they’ll face the Fighting Irish (38-14) amid a packed crowd of cheering Orange and White supporters.

Out of the 40 baseball games the Vols have played at home this season, they’ve only lost 3 of them.

FanDuel Sportsbook TN puts the most faith in Tennessee, giving them -350 odds of winning the series.

Vols fans can find the most appealing odds at BetMGM TN, where Tennessee sits at just -275 odds of a Game 1 win.

Meanwhile, Caesars Sportsbook gives Notre Dame a lengthy +250 odds of a first-game victory. Caesars sets the over/under of this game at 10.5 runs (-115 odds), giving Tennessee a -1.5 run line and Notre Dame a +1.5 run line.

Game 1 begins this Friday at 6 p.m. ET, and Game 2 continues Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.

Tickets for this weekend’s events are fairly expensive and especially hard to find. If you don’t plan on catching the games in person, you can tune in to ESPN2 and ESPN respectively to cheer on the Vols.

Keep in mind — Tennessee sports betting prohibits in-game wagering, so you’ll need to lock in your wagers before the game starts.
