Tennessee Titans Preseason Football Kicks Off Tomorrow Against Falcons

Posted on August 12, 2021 - Last Updated on August 17, 2021

The Tennessee Titans play their first game of the NFL preseason calendar this Friday, Aug. 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. The Titans made some important updates during the offseason, but many key players will likely sit this one out.

Tennessee sportsbooks predict a tight pre-season matchup between the two teams.

Tennessee Titans vs. Atlanta Falcons preseason odds

The Tennessee Titans kick off preseason play in the Falcons’ home territory at Mercedes Benz Stadium at 7 p.m. ET Friday night.

As far as who the outright winner will be, sportsbooks remain torn. FanDuel, BetMGM, and TwinSpires all favor the Titans.

DraftKings, Caesars, and Action 24/7 predict the Falcons will come out ahead.

Those predicting a win from the Titans can find the best odds currently posted at DraftKings.

The over/under sits at 38 with -110 odds on either side, and Titans fans can lock in a +1 spread at -110 odds at BetMGM.

As far as who will be on the roster for this game, don’t expect to see a lot of key players taking the field.

Head Coach Mike Vrabel said Tannehill is unlikely to play. Derrick Henry also won’t be playing in this matchup.

Tennessee Titans futures odds

Until recently, sportsbooks have been undecided as to which team would win the AFC South. In May, the Titans sat behind the Indianapolis Colts at +130 odds to win the division.

With wide receiver Julio Jones now on the roster, however, lines have started to shift.

Recent news of a foot injury to Colts QB Carson Wentz further improved Tennessee’s odds, though updates suggest Wentz may be back in the running by Week 1 of the regular season.

As of now, DraftKings gives Tennessee -105 odds, while the Colts sit at +140 odds.

As far as the entire AFC Conference goes, the Titans sit at +1500 odds, situated behind the Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, and Browns.

Individual player futures odds

If you’re uncertain on how the team will do as a whole, player futures might be a better place to focus your attention.

Ryan Tannehill

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 33 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions last season, his best stats to date by far.

Additionally, the 33 year-old QB threw for 3,819 yards last year. With an extra regular season game on the schedule this year and a new wide receiver now on the roster, experts expect Tannehill to send the ball flying more often.

DraftKings situates the over/under for Tannehill’s passing yards at 4,200.5, with 28.5 passing touchdowns predicted.

Derrick Henry

During each of the five years Derrick Henry has spent with the Titans, he has rushed more each year than the previous one. He rushed for a whopping 2,027 yards last year.

Injuries aside, this could be his loftiest season yet. Henry’s over/under for rushing yards is 1,555.5, with DraftKings giving Henry +100 odds of hitting the over.

Julio Jones

One of the league’s premier receivers, Julio Jones, played 10 seasons with Tennessee’s first opponent of the season, the Atlanta Falcons, before being traded to the Titans during the off season. Paired with Henry and wide receiver AJ Brown, the team’s offense is poised to pack a punch this year.

With the exception of last year, Jones has logged over 1,350 receiving yards and 80 catches every season since 2013. Last year, a series of injuries limited his play, resulting in 771 yards from 51 total catches.

DraftKings sets the over/under on Jones’ receiving yards at 995.5 and his catches at 77.5.
