Tennessee Regains Dominion Over The AFC South….For Now

Posted on December 2, 2020

The Tennessee Titans are yet again the lone leader of the AFC South.

The updated rank comes after the team’s 45-26 win against the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday.

The Colts fall to the Titans in the AFC South

The Titans originally suffered a 34-17 loss to the Colts in Nashville during Week 10, forfeiting their AFC South reign.

They went on to beat the Baltimore Ravens in overtime the subsequent week.

In Week 12, Tennessee received a shot at redemption. The team faced the Colts again, this time shutting out its division rival on enemy turf.

Indianapolis was knocked down to a 7-4 record, and the Titans became the first team this season to score 35 points in a single half.

The Titans haven’t scored that many points since Thanksgiving Day in 2008, when they scored 47 points against the Detroit Lions. Moreover, the Colts have never allowed a team to score that many points in their home territory.

A high-ranking Colts defense was no match for running back Derrick Henry. He rocketed off the offensive line for 178 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Henry’s 1,257 total rushing yards for the season puts him on track to transcend last year’s NFL-high total of 1,540 yards.

He is the 2020 rushing leader and could easily become this year’s league MVP. Henry is now tied with quarterback Josh Allen (+3300) at DraftKings for the fifth-best odds of winning the title.

Cleveland vs. Tennessee Week 13 odds

The Titans began the season with five straight wins. After losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals and Colts, their new record is 8-3.

The Cleveland Browns, who are also 8-3, visit the Titans this Sunday, Dec. 6.

Odds for this Week 13 game have the Titans as five and a half-point favorites at DraftKings.

Tennessee’s subsequent games against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-10) and Detroit Lions (4-7) should lead to comfortable wins.

Then, the team will finish off the season with slightly tougher road games against the Green Bay Packers (8-3) and the Houston Texans (4-7).

AFC South odds

Tennessee sits at the top of the division with five games left in regular season.

ESPN’s current Football Power Index projects the Titans have a 96.5% chance of making the playoffs and an 88.3% chance of claiming the AFC South title.

AFC South odds have the Titans as the clear favorite, while the Colts and Texans trail behind.

Additionally, Tennessee currently boasts the ninth-best odds of winning the Super Bowl.

Continued domination may very well lead them to clinch the AFC Championship and qualify for the road to the Big Game.

Bettors predicting a Titans victory can find value in the team now before the ascent continues.
