Tennessee Lottery Powerball Players Turn Up The Heat With Winter Winnings

Posted on January 14, 2022

Tennessee Lottery players are already scoring big in 2022. One recent Powerball drawing resulted in two major Volunteer State winners — one of which became the lucky recipient of a $500,000 payday.

Tennessee Powerball winners score big

A duo of lucky Powerball players became big winners last weekend’s drawing on Saturday, Jan. 9. Both players won by matching four out of the five white balls and the red Powerball.

But one of these winners opted for an additional feature, ultimately increasing his or her luck tenfold.

The first lucky winner purchased a ticket in Jackson, a small town in west Tennessee between Memphis and Nashville. This ticket — sold by the RMA Express Mart on Vann Drive — matched four white numbers as well as the red Powerball to result in a $50,000 payday.

Less than 150 miles away in Nashville, another player was scoring a new windfall. This player also matched four white numbers along with the red Powerball number.

But this particular player chose to purchase the add-on Power Play feature for $1 more. Moreover, the Power Play number ultimately drawn just so happened to be 10. This meant his or her $50,000 prize was immediately multiplied by 10, resulting in an even more substantial $500,000 win.

This second Powerball ticket was purchased at Sandy Market Discount Tobacco on Donelson Pike. Coincidentally, this store is located a mere 1.8 miles away from Nashville’s Tennessee Education Lottery headquarters.

No other information pertaining to the winners will be revealed until prizes are claimed.

Tennessee Lottery win continue in 2022

In all, Tennessee Lottery winners took home over $25 million in prizes during the first full week of January 2022. That number included a total of 428 prizes amounting to over $1,000 each.

The Tennessee winnings started long before January, however. The list of big winners has been growing for quite some time. This past December, Santa gifted one Cookeville purchaser in the form of a $1 million prize during the Christmas Day Powerball drawing.

Earlier that month, a Memphis woman found out she was the winner of a $1 million prize while wrapping presents.

Talk about a gift indeed!

These Winter winnings combine with the more than $16.8 billion players have already taken home in prizes since the Tennessee Lottery’s inception in January 2004.

In addition to these player victories, the Lottery has succeeded in raising over $6 billion for state-wide initiatives including:

  • college grants
  • scholarships
  • education projects
  • after-school programs

The current Powerball jackpot sits at an estimated $48 million, with a cash value of $33.3 million. The next opportunity for players to win big comes during this Saturday’s drawing at 10:59 ET.

And thanks to the game’s ever-growing popularity, players can now take part in Monday night Powerball drawings all year long.

As always, the Tennessee Lottery reminds you to Have Fun and Play Responsibly.
