The Tennessee Vols face long-time SEC East rivals the Kentucky Wildcats this Saturday.
Sportsbooks aren’t certain which team will emerge victorious, though. History suggests a win from the Vols, but Kentucky’s winning season makes them a solid contender.
Tennessee Vols against Kentucky
Tennessee heads to Kentucky after a Week 9 bye to renew one of the oldest rivalries in college football.
Out of the 116 games played against each other, the Vols have traditionally been the victor, boasting an 81-26-9 lead against the Wildcats.
The first matchup in 1893 resulted in a shutout 56-0 victory by Kentucky. Tennessee then held a 26-game win streak from 1985-2010. Kentucky went on to claim its latest victory in October 2020, the most-recent time the teams have seen each other.
Current season stats suggest the Wildcats may soon have another win to add to that list. Ranked 2nd in the SEC East, Kentucky carries a 6-2 overall record for the year and is currently undefeated at home.
Tennessee, on the other hand, has a 4-4 record for the season. And out of their three away games thus far, they’ve lost two.
Tennessee vs. Kentucky game odds
Saturday’s odds reflect the conflicting stories conveyed by history and the current football season. According to sportsbooks, the outcome of the upcoming game is anyone’s guess.
Moneyline odds position Tennessee with odds. Kentucky sits right there beside them with odds.
In order to beat the spread, the Vols will need to outscore the Wildcats by more than point(s).
One thing sportsbooks seem to be sure of, though, is that this will be a high-scoring game. The over/under is positioned at total points.
Tennessee’s eight games this season have averaged just under 64 points each, while Kentucky’s average sits at less than 48 points per game.
