CONCACAF World Cup qualifying continues this Sunday, Sept. 5. The United States men’s national soccer team (USMNT) competes against Canada in Nashville, Tennessee’s own Nissan Stadium.
According to Tennessee sportsbooks, the U.S. is favored in this highly anticipated hometown qualifier.
USMNT vs Canada
These two North American teams enter this final round faceoff after their previous matches both resulted in draws.
Team USA has homefield advantage here, having played at Nissan Stadium a total of eight times, beginning in 2006 against Morocco. Four of those matches resulted in wins.
Over 36,000 fans are expected to be in attendance on Sunday. It’s a factor that could play a major role in Us success, though Canada shouldn’t be entirely discredited. America’s northern neighbor has had quite the year itself.
This is the first time Canada has reached this final stage of World Cup qualifying since 1997. The last time Canada won against the U.S. was in October 2019 during a Nations League match on Canadian soil.
Two defensive starters from Nashville SC, an MLS team that also plays at Nissan Stadium, will be competing against each other in this matchup. Walker Zimmerman serves as the US center back, while Alistair Johnston is Canada’s right back.
DraftKings gives the world 20th-ranked U.S. -195 odds of winning. A draw is the second most likely conclusion at +300 odds. The sportsbook situates odds of No. 70 Canada pulling out a win at +475.
