Winning $500k Powerball Ticket Goes Unclaimed In Tennessee

Posted on February 24, 2021

It was one Powerball player’s big day in Clinton, Tennessee last Saturday.

However, it is unclear who that lucky player is.

Nobody has claimed the $500,000 winning ticket yet.

Could the winner be you?

The winning ticket was sold at Ian’s Market, located at 2412 North Charles G Seviers Boulevard near Anderson County.

According to the Tennessee Lottery, the ticket was won during the weekend drawing through the optional $1 Power Play feature.

The winner matched four out of five white numbers on the winning ticket along with the final red Powerball number.

Power plays pay off

Normally, matching four out of the five white numbers plus the red Powerball would result in a $50,000 win.

However, since the winner purchased an additional $1 Power Play add-on, the total prize skyrocketed to $500,000.

When purchasing a Powerball ticket, players choose any five numbers from 1-69, plus a Powerball number from 1-26. Players also have the option of choosing Quick Pick, where the computer chooses the numbers for you.

You can add Power Play to your pay-slip for $1 each play.

Before the Powerball numbers are selected, a Power Play number is randomly chosen. This number is anywhere from 1-10 and becomes the prize multiplier for any non-jackpot winnings.

The lucky winner in Clinton snagged the 10x multiplier.

Cashing in on a half-million-dollar ticket

If you happen to be the fortunate winner of this generous sum, your ticket can be claimed in person by visiting the Tennessee Lottery Nashville Headquarters.

For large wins such as this, a lawyer should be consulted before signing and redeeming a ticket.

Taking the proper steps to safeguard your winnings is important. Players should maintain as much anonymity during the process as possible.

When cashing in, make sure to have four items handy:

  • A signed winning ticket (if you want to remain anonymous, do not sign the ticket and consult a lawyer first)
  • A completed claim form
  • Proof of ID
  • Proof of Social Security Number

Winners must claim Powerball tickets within 180 days of the drawing date.

When are the Powerball drawings?

Powerball drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. ET.

The jackpot for this week’s upcoming drawing surpasses $900 million.

This year’s Powerball jackpots have been some of the largest in history. Numbers in late January rose to near record highs of over $970 million.

Players can purchase tickets at a variety of locations around the state for $2 per play.

If you recently bought a ticket, check your pockets to see if your ticket was the winning one from last week.
