On Rocky Top Of It: Live Updates From Tennessee Sports Betting Launch

Posted on October 31, 2020 - Last Updated on November 2, 2020

There may not be a ball drop in Times Square, but at midnight on Sunday, Nov. 1, Tennessee will enter a new era. Once the clock strikes midnight, sports fans in the state can officially start placing bets.

We’re here for all the launch-day news from the strike of midnight to Titans kickoff to let you know which apps are live, what these betting apps offer, and any other eventful news from Tennessee’s first official day of sports betting.

FanDuel is ready to go at midnight for its launch, as is BetMGM, while DraftKings will unfurl its Tennessee offering at 12:15 a.m. CT. Action 24/7 went live later in the morning.

We’ll be here to offer all the latest on the big launch, so keep tuning in to PlayTenn.com.

Live updates on Tennessee sports betting launch

3:20 p.m. Bengals stun Titans, help sportsbooks

The surprising victory by the Cincinnati Bengals over the seven-point favorite Tennessee Titans may have been heartbreaking for Titans fans, but it is a bit of a godsend for sportsbooks. While the hold mandate doesn’t officially go into effect until January 2021, books are definitely going to end up holding more than 10% today after many promos, like the Titans -2.5 “no-brainer” bet at DraftKings, not cashing.

12:44 p.m.: No iOS option for Action 24/7 yet

Bad news for iPhone users wanting to check out Action 24/7. The iOS version of the app is not approved yet, so users will need to browser bet on their computers if they want to wager.

Meanwhile, the Android app is live, but has its own benefits and drawbacks. One drawback is that the live betting tab doesn’t list every NFL game, so it is impossible to access in-game betting on, of all things, the Titans-Bengals game. Thankfully, it is available on computer browser.

Meanwhile, the in-game interface on games you can access on Droid features a gamecast element that does seem to update quickly between plays:

12:oo p.m.: Titans-Bengals close at -7

The first-ever Tennessee Titans you can bet on in the state is underway. The game lines closed at TEN -7 and the total dropped to 49 likely as a result of concern over the windy conditions.

Just because the game is underway doesn’t mean it is too late to bet. One of the great things these sportsbook apps offer is in-game betting. We’ve got everything you need to know about that covered.

9:30 a.m.: More Titans-Bengals boosts

Given that most sportsbooks have Titans as seven-point favorites, there are several odds boosts that certainly seem quite favorable if you want to get some money down on Tennessee.

DraftKings has Titans to score a touchdown at +100, while FanDuel did one better and is offering +100 on Titans to score at least a field goal. FanDuel also shifted the game odds to Titans -2.5, but both of these bets have a max of $50.

7:30 a.m.: Eddie George rushing to bet on FanDuel

FanDuel and DraftKings regularly involve local sports heroes in their promotions. Tennessee is no exception. This morning, FanDuel posted a video featuring former Titans running back Eddie George ready and eager to bet:

7:00 a.m.: Action 24/7 launches too

Action 24/7 was the app with the most uncertainty around a Nov. 1 launch, but the locally owned and operated book made it on opening day after all. Like the other apps, Action 24/does not appear to be baking in any extra juice to satisfy the 10% hold mandate.

One thing the app does not have is any sort of promotions just yet, which is not surprising given the app isn’t exactly equipped with a marketing and promotional war chest like its competitors.

6:45 a.m.: FanDuel Titans action is very lopsided

Here is a look at the betting trends on the Titans/Bengals game at FanDuel. The latest betting breakdown:

12:40 a.m.: DraftKings Sportsbook makes it three

Appears to be up and running in Tennessee as well, which means sports bettors now have three options to use in the Volunteer State.

12:30 a.m.: One bettor already active on the app

12:20 a.m.: BetMGM going big on Titans parlay promos

One of the marquee offers available on BetMGM Tennessee are a series of bets around Sunday’s Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals match. Some of the offers include:

  • Derrick Henry to score the first TD boosted from +400 to +550
  • Joe Burrow and Ryan Tannehill to each throw for at least 300 yards at +450
  • AJ Brown and Tyler Boyd to both record 80 receiving yards +450

12:10 a.m.: BetMGM live with live betting on college

BetMGM’s online sportsbook was up and running not long after midnight. Unlike FanDuel, which skipped on college in-game betting, BetMGM had options for both the UNLV and Nevada game as well as Western Kentucky and BYU.

12:00 a.m.: FanDuel live with no live betting on college

As promised, FanDuel Tennessee was up and running at midnight with a range of betting options, including tomorrow’s NFL slate. Comparing the odds to FanDuel Indiana, it appears the fears of extra vig are not something to worry about for now. The odds matched across the two sites.

One interesting note is that, while FanDuel was offering live action on Chinese basketball, there were no live betting lines on the remaining college football games still running at time of launch. By comparison, FanDuel Indiana did have live lines on the contest between UNLV and UNR.
