The US Men’s National Team faces off against Jamaica on Sunday, July 25th for quarterfinal competition at the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Tennessee sportsbooks expect the US to extend its 13-game winning streak this weekend by celebrating a victory over Jamaica.
CONCACAF Gold Cup history
The Gold Cup serves as the bi-annual regional championship for CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football) soccer teams.
In its 15-year history, the US has logged six total victories in the tournament (1991, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2013, 2017), the second-most wins of any other country. Mexico currently sits in the lead with eight wins. Canada rounds out this short list of winning countries with one tournament championship under its belt.
This year, the US is well on its way to securing another victory.
USA beats Canada for 3-0 group stage record
The US is on a hot streak, putting Canada’s record-breaking eight-game winning streak to a screeching halt and finishing at the top of Group B with a 3-0 group stage record.
The Group B schedule saw the US secure a 1-0 victory over Haiti in the first game, pummel Martinique 6-1 in the second game, and skirt away with a 1-0 win over Canada in the grouping’s third game.
Canada rounded out group stage competition with back-to-back 4-1 wins over Martinique and Haiti before losing to the US. As a result, America’s northern neighbors are set to play Costa Rica in the quarterfinals, a team that exited the first round with a 3-0 record.
Along with its 9-1-0 record for the season, the US now boasts an undefeated record against Canada in the 20 home matches played in America since 1957.
Tennesseans will have a first-row seat for the next home turf matchup on Sunday, Sept. 5 when the teams play a World Cup qualifier match at Nashville’s own Nissan Stadium.

USMNT vs. Jamaica history
The last time USA took home the gold was in 2017. Coincidentally, it beat out Jamaica for the top spot. USA will have to beat Jamaica once again on Sunday if it wants a chance at the 2021 Gold Cup trophy.
Jamaica holds a 2-1 record coming into quarterfinal competition against the US, winning its first match 2-0 against Suriname and its second 2-1 against Guadalupe. Its 1-0 loss to Costa Rica on Sunday gave the team a second-place finish in Group C.
The two previously faced each other in a friendly Austrian competition back in March where the US won 4-1.
As far as Gold Cup history between the two teams goes, the last time the two met was at the 2019 semifinals where the US came out on top with a 3-1 win. The duo has met in the last five Gold Cup knockout rounds, with Jamaica winning only one of those meetups in the 2015 semifinals.
USMNT holds second-best odds of winning the Gold Cup
Futures betting is available for the tournament as well. Bettors can wager on the overall outcome of the Gold Cup Finals.
A win against Jamaica on Sunday would put the USMNT a mere two matches away from winning its seventh Gold Cup trophy since 1991. They’ll have to get past Mexico to do so, though. USA sits at +150 odds of winning the Gold Cup, while Mexico sits in the lead with +140 odds.
Semifinals take place on July 29 in Austin and Houston, TX, and the final championship match gets underway Aug. 1 in Las Vegas, NV.
The USA’s competition gets underway on Sunday, July 25th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.
